Frequently asked questions

Don’t worry - if you still have a question, the contact form is at the bottom.

  • Yes! We try and run at least one public transport friendly one a month. And we have a rideshare Whatsapp group to find a lift if public transport is not an option.

  • Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome (seriously, they’ll be getting a lot of attention) on most walks.

We often encounter livestock and there may be other dogs, so leads are essential.

There’s sometimes walks where dogs might not be able to go to the cafe/pub/venue - take a look at the walk info as we probably won’t check this for you.

  • It depends. If they’re small enough to be carried and you’re up for carrying them, they’re very welcome! If they’re big enough to keep up the pace with adults, they’re also very welcome.

We run some walks that are specifically wheelchair and buggy friendly. These tend to go at a slower pace, and are better for children.

All under 18s must be with an adult who is responsible for them. We’re not pediatric first aid trained or insured to cover under 18s, so they are the full responsibility of the adult they are with and we are not liable for any harm or injury.

  • We suggest as a minimum wear comfortable waterproof boots (walking boots are best), a waterproof coat and a comfortable backpack. Bring lots of water.

    Other useful things:

    • layers

    • waterproof cover for your bag

    • waterproof trousers

    • sunscreen

    • hat (woolly in winter, cap in summer)

    • sunglasses

    • hand sanitiser

    • plasters

    • tissues

    • lunch

    • snacks

    • flask

  • The majority are free. Sometimes we charge for more event-type walks that might have an entry fee or a facilitator we need to cover the cost of.

We sometimes make a little money from events and donations. We’re a Community Interest Company, largely run by volunteers and funded by grants. Any money we make from events goes back into our running costs.

  • That’s totally understandable! We’re a friendly bunch, and there’s always other folk there who are new or on their own, so you’ll be in the same boat. You can always chat to our leader or backstop - they love chatting to new folk.

We also run a couple of ‘Welcome walks’ a year that are just for new people.

If you’re really, really nervous, send us an email or message on Instagram. We can link you up with a ‘buddy’ who can be by your side on your first walk.

  • It depends on the hikes and your needs. We try to run one event every few months that’s wheelchair accessible, and all our walk info includes as much access information as we know.

This might be how hilly it is, terrain, length of walk and if we’re likely to making lots of stops. We also include toilet information if we can.

We can’t always reccy the route before we do it with the group. That means we don’t always know all the details, like number of stiles or what the ground is like.

If you’re interested in a particular hike but aren’t sure if your needs will be met, get in touch and we can discuss.

  • Sometimes. You don’t need to sign up to be a member, but some of our walks are ticketed - paid and free.

This should be clear from any walk descriptions or comms. Most walks you don’t need a ticket.

  • In short, no. Pretty much all of our walks are for queer people only. Occasionally we’ll run them for allies as well - this should be clear from the walk details.

The exception is if you’re really nervous to come along on your own, and bringing a straight friend would help you attend. If that’s the case, please send us an email before a walk to let us know.

  • Yes! If you feel like you are queer or might be, you’re welcome to come along.

  • Absolutely! If you feel like you’re queer or might be, you’re very welcome. There are no relationship entry requirements!
